Shirodhara:
Pouring of liquids like Decoction/Medicated oil/ milk/ buttermilk over head is popularly known as Shirodhara.
Udavartana( powder massage) :
Massaging the body with oil or powder of the herbs in a direction opposite to the orientation of hair in the body is called as Udavartana. Beneficial effects: Reduces extra body fat, Improves the integrity of the skin, Brings steadiness in body, cures bad body odour, Reduces over weight etc.
Kati basti (Heat Therapy):
The procedure of applying heat to the sacral/lumbar region by retaining warm medicated oil with in a specially formed ring . Indication: Backache, Lumber spondylitis , Sciatica, Slip disk etc
Griva basti :
The procedure of applying heat to the cervical region by retaining warm medicated oil within a specially formed ring. Indication: Cervical spondylitis , Slip disk , Osteoarthritis cervical vertebra etc.
Janu basti:
The procedure of applying heat to the Knee region by retaining warm medicated oil with in a specially formed ring . Indication: Osteoarthritis of knee joint, Degenerative changes of knee joints etc.
Hridaya basti:
The procedure of applying heat to the cardiac region by retaining warm medicated oil with in a specially formed ring Indications- Heart problems, Asthma, Bronchitis, costocondritis etc
Mukhalepa:
Facial Massage is performed with medicated gel, followed by medicated steam ,then exfoliation of the face skin is done with powder massage and after that a very thick plaster of medication is applied over face. Indication- Wrinkles, Pimples, Dark spots, Hyper pigmentations, Premature aging etc.
Pinda Sweda:
A bolus of medicated black gram that has been cooked with special herbs, is vigourously rubbed over the entire body (below neck) focusing on muscle tissue and joints. Indications-Excellent for joints pains, Paralysis, Muscle atrophy, high blood pressure, High cholesterol, Loss of libido, Rejuvenation of whole body skin, etc.
Pizhichil:
In this therapy, lukewarm herbal oils are poured all over the body by two to four trained therapists i a special rhythmic way continuously for about 60 to 90 minutes per day for a period of 7 to 21 days. This therapy is very useful for Rheumatic diseases like Arthritis, Paralysis, Hemiplega, Paralysis, Sexual Weakness, Nervous Weakness and Nervous disorders etc.
Akshitarpana:
This is a unique procedure of application of medicated oil to the eyes, After fixing a special type of ring around the eyes. This therapy is carried out to protect the eye from degeneration due to ageing process and to improve the eyesight. It is also beneficial to the eyes alleviating dryness, stiffness, blurring of vision, falling of eyelashes, watery eyes, conjunctivitis and glaucoma.
Sirovasthi:
Specific lukewarm herbal oils are poured into a cap fitted on the head for 15 to 60 minutes per day according to the patients conditions for a period of 7 days. This therapy is highly effective for facial paralysis, Dryness of nostrils, mouth and throat, severe headaches, and other Vatha originated diseases.
Gandusha:
Holding mouth full of medicated oils /decoctions for 15-20 min. Every day for 7 days. Indications- Diseases of teeth, Gum, Oral cavity, Mouth ulcers, face wrinkles, rejuvenation etc.
Karnapurana:
Pouring lukewarm medicated oils in ears. Indications: - Senile deafness, Ear wax, Rejuvenation, etc.
